Regular Meeting City Council

November 27th, 2017 7:00 P.M.

 

Call to order by Mayor Bruce Lowe.

 

Council members physically present were Aldermen Scott Francis, Gerald Mahin, Dan Mason, and Mike Kirby, John Dodson, and Jim Miller. .Also present were Treasurer Michael R. Griffin, City Clerk Michele Whitehead, Superintendent Wayne Dixon, and Chief Adam Anderson, Wendy Martin and Larry Crossett.

 

The Chairman declared quorum present.

 

Minutes of the November 13, 2017 regular Council meeting were approved and the November 17th Police committee meeting were approved.

 

Superintendent Dixon informed the council that a valve needs replaced for well 6, the cost will be approximately $3,457.00. The expenditure was approved.

 

The 2018 Motor Fuel tax resolution was approved.

 

PASSAGE OF ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS

 

R17-64 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller to approve the purchase of a new valve for Well 6 at approximately $3,457.00

Roll Call:

Ayes: Aldermen Kirby, Dodson, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason.

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

 

R17-65 Alderman Mason moved, seconded by Alderman Miller, to approve the 2018 MFT resolution.

Roll Call:

Ayes: Aldermen Kirby, Dodson, Miller, Francis, Mahin, and Mason.

Nays: None

Chairman declared motion carried.

 

BIDS, PETITIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

Alderman Francis informed the Council that the Chief upgraded his cell phone to a newer model. This was necessary in order for the Chief to have an application which will alert him to any emergencies at the school.

 

Alderman Miller conveyed a thank you from the Fall Festival Committee to the Council for their help with the Community Christmas tree.

 

Mayor Lowe informed the Council that December 4th, 2017 is the celebration of the 200th birthday of Illinois. Flag raising ceremonies will be held throughout the state that day. The Mayor and some of the Aldermen plan to attend the ceremony being held in Havana. The Superintendent and other city employees will have a small ceremony at City Hall to raise the bicentennial flag on December 4, 2017 at noon.
