The Mason City Rotary and S.J.B. Promotions sponsored a Business After Hours event April 3 at the Chestnut Street offices of S.J.B. Promotions. The Rotary encourages these events in order to bring local business owners together to share ideas and solutions and generally support the local business community.
“Because we’re a small community there are not a lot of opportunities to network,” says Jill Douglas of S.J.B. “So this was a good idea. We sent invitations to local businesses as well as the Havana and Pekin Chambers of Commerce and our own customers. Probably about 125 people attended the event that ran from 3:00 to 6:00.
“I catered the event using only local businesses,” Ms. Douglas says. “We had sandwiches from Subway and desserts from the Do Drop Inn, as well as wine from Hill Prairie Winery. We had a ribbon cutting out front for our new building. It was a rewarding evening.”
